14 Miles on Sunday Morning
Sunday, August 31, 2008
Did my 14 mile long run while Gustav brewed out in the Gulf. We hope it doesn't hit anywhere near here. We've decided to hang out here since the projected path is for New Orleans. Hurricanes suck. And it looks like we will be dealing with hurricane Hannah after this one. I put off my long run that is usually done on Saturday mornings and did it this morning. I wanted to do it yesterday but didn't want to be exhausted for a gig I had over in Pensacola later that night like I am right now. I am pleasantly tired and loosened up. I wanted to do it last night, but decided not to take a chance with any possible drunk labor day drivers being that Destin is a party city.
So I popped a 200mg No Doz caffeine pill and went running at about 8:00am. It was hotter than I would have liked, so I ended up drinking 2 of my camelbacks. I ran 7 miles out and around my in-law's neighborhood (where we used to live) and stopped to fill the camelback with their water hose and ran back home. Last week I had a bit of a headache after my long run, I was a bit dehydrated I guess. So today, I kept taking sips every 2 minutes or so. I was drenched by the end of my run. It was just a typical hot Florida day.
